Consumer goods packaging, steel mesh, steel wire
The work is about using remnants of excessive consumer culture to create wearable think pieces. By using disposed plastic bags and consumer good wrappers, I want to change perceptions about what is considered valuable and precious. How can a material be seen as cheap that may very well cost us our health and environment? Why do we perceive plastics as worthless when they can only be found on Earth, making them one of the rarest materials in the Universe? The intrinsic dissonance between material and an almost organic, natural-seeming appearance only emphasises this duality. The fragmentation and reunion of the material in each piece is a metaphor for the overwhelming complexity of the plastics problem and aims to be a seed for growth of change.
