Haute Kantár

Philipp Eberle & Marie von Heyl

Germany

Haute Kantár challenges our understanding of jewellery as mere adornment by asking us to make a sacrifice: wearing a piece of this collection means to temporarily lose one of the five senses.
By combining everyday objects and classical jewellery artist Marie von Heyl and jewellery designer Philipp Eberle produce hybrids of abundance and restriction.
Classical pearls attached to a set of ear plugs, earrings that have to be worn with a mouth piece or a mask that mutes and blinds at the same time—these pieces refuse to step into the background and force us to adjust the way we communicate and make sense of the world.
